Terms of Service
Last updated: March 15, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using GitChat ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
GitChat is an AI-powered chat interface for GitHub repositories. The Service allows you to explore, manage, and interact with your GitHub repositories through natural language conversation. The Service may also integrate with third-party platforms such as Vercel for deployment management.
3. Account and Authentication
You must authenticate with a valid GitHub account to use the Service. By connecting your GitHub account, you authorize GitChat to access your repositories and perform actions on your behalf within the scope of the permissions you grant.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
- You must not share your session or access with unauthorized users.
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
4. Third-Party Integrations
The Service may connect to third-party services (e.g., Vercel, GitHub) via OAuth or API tokens. When you connect a third-party account:
- You authorize GitChat to interact with that service on your behalf.
- You are subject to the third party's own terms of service.
- You can disconnect any integration at any time through Settings.
- GitChat stores access tokens securely and does not share them with other parties.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to it.
- Use the Service to perform actions that violate GitHub's or any third-party platform's terms.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
6. AI-Generated Content
The Service uses AI models to interpret your requests and perform actions. While we strive for accuracy:
- AI responses may contain errors or inaccuracies.
- Write operations (creating branches, merging PRs, deploying) require your explicit approval.
- You are responsible for reviewing and approving all actions before they are executed.
- GitChat is not liable for any damages resulting from AI-suggested actions that you approve.
7. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described therein.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by GitChat and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your repositories and code remain your property.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GitChat and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service.
10. Service Availability
We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We are not liable for any downtime or service interruptions.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
